To give you an idea of the structure of the sessions the following timetable has been drawn up. This is a guide only; activities and times may vary from day to day.

9.05am - Morning / All-Day Children arrive. Parents/Carers help their child find their name on their coat peg and hang up their personal items in the cloakroom, they then enter our classroom put their library bags in the trolley ready for changing their books and their Lunch Boxes (if staying All-Day) in another tray on the trolley. Children then find their Registration Card and Self Register by posting it in our Letter Box.

9.10am - Free Play. The children can choose which activities they want to do, e.g. puzzles, playdough, number games, dressing up, painting, drawing, make-believe play e.g. in the home corner. We also have activities that relate to our theme. Children can often choose to be inside or outside and the children can put on their waterproofs so they can enjoy the fresh air, exercise and have fun in all weathers. Our staff play alongside the children and work to observe, assess and develop their learning.

10.00am - Snack Table Opens. We have a rolling Snack Table so children can choose when they wish to have their snack, they collect their own cup and plate and are encouraged to put them in the washing up bowl afterwards. The children are supported to pour their own drinks. We offer milk and water to drink and a range of healthy snacks. Children are encouraged to talk about what they have done during the morning and share their news.

10:50am - Classroom Tidy Time. The “Tidy Up Time “ music is played and the children and the staff team tidy up the classroom together. Once the classroom is tidy everyone enjoys dancing together to the Rhumba!

11:00am - Carpet Time. We discuss our letter, number, colour and language of the week and any news.

11:05am - Group Story time in their Butterfly or Caterpillar groups.

11.15am - Free Play (More Exercise focused). Everyone is encouraged to go outside into the playground with the bikes, sit on toys etc. We have bats, balls, gardening tools and building equipment. Children can explore the playground looking for nature, enjoying the seasons, take part in role-play or simply enjoy some shade under a tree and look at a book. Alternatively we may play games with our parachute or enjoy a dance or yoga CD. On a wet day we would spend this time playing and learning in our outside covered classroom.

11.40am - Children help the staff team tidy up outside and re-enter the classroom. They children sit on the carpet, often listening to music, until everyone has arrived.

11.45am - We enjoy music, singing and dancing often accompanied with our IPod tunes, CD music, puppets and/or instruments.

11.50am - The children staying for the Afternoon Session get on their coats an enjoy play in our under covered area.

12.00 noon - The Morning Session children end with the goodbye song and distribution of work and book bags.

12:05pm (Morning Session). - The front door is opened. Parents/Carers collect the Morning Session children and their coats etc. Feedback is given to Parents/Carers, questions asked and answered and the accident book completed (if required). The children are signed out on the Register.

12:05pm (Afternoon Session/All-Day). - The Garden Fenced Gate and the Gate to the Covered Classroom is opened. Parents/carers help their child to find their name on their coat peg and hang up their personal items in the cloakroom, they then enter our covered classroom put their library bags in the trolley ready for changing their books and their Lunch Boxes in the trolley. Children then find their Registration Card and Self Register by posting it in our Letter Box.

12:15pm - Children come in take off their coats, wash their hands, get their lunch boxes and are helped to put their food on a plate.

12:20pm - Lunch-Time. A member of staff sits on each table to help the children and to talk to them about their lunch, activities the children have been doing or subjects of interest to them.

12:50pm - Free Play: Inside. The children can choose which activities they want to do. Some of the activities may be different to those planned for the Morning Session. The activities will be set to meet the needs and learning of the children in our cohort.

13:55pm - Classroom Tidy Time. The “Tidy Up Time “ music is played and the children and the staff team tidy up the classroom together. Once the classroom is tidy everyone enjoys dancing together to the Rhumba!

14:00am - Carpet Time. We discuss our letter, number, colour and language of the week and any news.

14:15pm - Free Play (More Exercise focused). 14:50pm - Story Time in the Nursery Room.

15:05pm - End of the Day. The Nursery Cloakroom door is opened Parents/Carers collect their children and their coats etc. Feedback is given to Parents/Carers, questions asked and answered and the Accident Book completed (if required). A member of staff signs the children out on the Register.
